Booking cannot be accepted without prior and appropriate payment of the deposit.  A booking and consent form must be completed before the course commences and must be signed by parents/guardians for under 18’s.  All data collected at the point of booking will be kept in the strictest of confidence and only shared when deemed necessary.  Consent forms will be deleted on completion of the course.  Please see our Privacy Policy for further information.

Once the booking is confirmed, a deposit is not returnable in case of subsequent cancellation, although it may be used for a course before the end of that season.

When the booking is confirmed, participants will be advised of the date by which final payment must be received (6 weeks prior to course). If no notice of cancellation has been received by this date, the client is then liable for the full fee. If the final payment is not received by this date the Sailing School reserves the right to cancel the booking. After this date, if cancellation is received in writing, we will do our best to fill the vacancy created, but a refund will be made only if the vacancy can be filled.

The Sailing School reserves all rights to cancel any course should circumstances make this necessary or if a minimum number of participants is not reached; in this case all the money paid will be returned in full.

Tighnabruaich Sailing School will endeavour to ensure your course takes place in accordance with your booking.  However, we will reserver the right to cancel any booking without prior notice and at any time where we believe on reasonable grounds that cancellation is necessary due to unsuitable conditions. 

By accepting a place on a course, participants undertake to conform to the directions and orders of the organisers and instructors at all times, particularly in relation to safety. Failure to comply with this may result in the student being asked to leave the course without the right to a refund. 

Intending participants must be physically fit and expect to be involved in adventurous or strenuous activity.  Participants must satisfy themselves that the activity is within their ability and must adhere to the policy of wearing a buoyancy aid at all times when on the water. Anyone who has a heart pacemaker or who is liable to epilepsy or any complaint which precludes exertion or which might be aggravated by accidental immersion in cold water must inform the Sailing School, and produce a letter from their doctor confirming their ability to take part at the time of booking. The Sailing School reserves the right to refuse a booking on medical grounds if the medical condition is considered to be detrimental to the safety and smooth running of the course.

Travel insurance is not included and participants are responsible for organising adequate insurance cover. The Sailing School will exercise due diligence in the organisation and management of its courses but neither the Sailing School or its servants or agents shall be liable for any loss, injury or damage which may arise as a result of the normally accepted risks of sailing in small boats. Participants, parents or guardians must accept that there are risks and perhaps inevitable bumps and scrapes. 

Any complaints should be made in writing, in the first instance to the Principal Derek Andrews, and every effort will be made to reach an amicable solution.  If a satisfactory conclusion is not reached, then you have the right to contact the RYA to assist with the complaints procedure.  Your statutory rights are not affected.

Photographs and Video Clips taken on Tighnabruaich Sailing School's courses may appear in brochures, website or on social media.  If participants do not wish to be photographed or filmed, this should be raised with the Principal.
